GPs dismayed at Primecare service

GPs in Bradford have complained about the quality of service provided by commercial deputising service Primecare.

Dr John Givans, medical secretary of Bradford LMC, said some of the 150 GPs covered by Primecare had protested about patient waiting times for both returned calls and home visits.

'Primecare has difficulty finding doctors and therefore the response times tend to be slower than is desirable,' he said. 'It has been several hours. They try to prioritise but do not necessarily get it right.'

A spokeswoman for Primecare said the company was trying to improve service quality.
