GPs fear a 'police state' following Shipman Inquiry

The GP father of Britain's best young speller says he hopes she does not follow him into medicine as there are 'better professions to go into'.

Dr Suresh Panikker said his 13-year-old daughter Gayathri wants to read medicine or languages at university, but was interested in becoming a psychiatrist rather then a GP.

Gayathri won BBC's Hard Spell quiz earlier this month and will take part in a celebrity special early in the new year.
