GPs fined £29k for false claims

Two married GPs have been fined £29,000 for making false claims for miscarriages and out-of-hours calls.

Dr Suhasini Patel and her husband Suresh were also ordered to pay £1,216 compensation to the NHS and £26,500 to cover legal costs in the Maidstone Crown Court case last week.

She pleaded guilty to 13 charges of false accounting totalling £857 for making miscarriage claims when patients had asked for terminations.

Dr Suresh Patel pleaded guilty to 16 charges of making false night visit claims totalling £359.
