GPs ignored over contract implementation

Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire LMC has launched a scathing attack on Luton Teaching PCT, accusing it of ignoring GPs in its implementation of the GMS contract.

An LMC survey of GPs in Luton found only two had either received any information about the contract or had any understanding of the way the PCT was implementing it.

The LMC said the trust was the only one of 11 in the area that had failed to involve GPs.

Tonia Parsons, PCT director of commissioning and modernisation, conceded it had declined to set up a new contract steering group involving the LMC, but denied GPs had been kept out of the loop.
