GPs in poor quality PCTs set to to face closer monitoring

Dr Richard Fieldhouse's mum Jeanne could have saved locum GPs hours dealing with complicated superannuation forms each month.

She has devised a spreadsheet which simplifies the forms used to calculate gross income and corresponding superannuation payments.

Dr Fieldhouse, chair of the National Association of Sessional GPs, said GPs need only input personal details and pension codes for the practices they work in once. The spreadsheet, which can be downloaded from the NASGP's website, then calculates gross earnings and superannuation payable.

'I used to put them off for three or four months because they were doing my head in,' said Dr Fieldhouse.
