GPs' opt-out gets delayed

Forth Valley LMC has denounced its health board for delaying the date when GPs can opt out of out-of-hours because of a parliamentary decree on public consultation.

LMC secretary Dr John Rankin said the decision to delay it from June until August and then September had 'engendered a lot of ill-will' among GPs. 'There is really no change so the whole consultation is a farce.'

But NHS Forth Valley said the only dates presented for board approval were for

NHS 24 to start in August and the service to launch in September.
