GPs should not do insurers' dirty work

I take my hat off to Dr Shelagh McCormick for refusing to discuss the reason why an insurance company did not provide cover for a patient (News report, August 11).

If insurance companies expect us to do this work they should pay the going private rate. I think it is fair to say there is almost unanimous agreement among my less supine colleagues about this.
