'Heart safety of cox-2s is not proven'

GPs in north Somerset were facing the prospect of doing their own out-of-hours cover next year as Pulse went to press.

Avon LMC said GPs had complained that the trust

had threatened to invoke the 'exceptional circumstances' clause to delay their opt-out after the promised date of

November 1.

LMC chief executive Steve Mercer said legal advice from the GPC was that the trust 'doesn't have a leg to stand on'.
