As another momentous 12 months for general practice draws to a close, it’s time for Pulse’s end-of-year review. We once again nominate the great and the good for our Christmas awards – and celebrate five true heroes of general practice who have quietly done their bit to champion the profession

Dr Clare Gerada described four-year training as the RCGP’s ‘gift to the next generation’ – and with plenty of job opportunities, a 20% rise in training places and even a GMC fee cut thrown into the mix, there were plenty of reasons for would-be GPs to celebrate.
