At the heart of general practice since 1960

A roll-call that bodes well for the future

At a time when general practice is feeling under-resourced and undervalued, it seems more important than ever to highlight its worth.

The Power 50 list is a much-needed reminder of all the great things the profession is achieving and the influence individual GPs are having within primary care and the wider NHS.

Of course many familiar GPs feature on this year’s list but some fresh faces have earned the right to join them. Number one on our list is among this new generation of GP leaders, determined to shout about general practice’s value as well as protest against where it’s heading.

Despite the dark times, there is a striking energy and optimism among (most of) our influential GPs. This vigour will be vital if the profession is to keep fighting the challenges ahead.
