How should we manage repeated information requests from a solicitor? What can we charge?

We are having several requests for information from a solicitor. Consents are all ok but we are having to send a written response each time. The fee says negotiable - what fee should we use as a guideline? Is it acceptable to send an invoice with each letter? We suspect that it will be a prolonged enquiry and do not want to send a large bill at the end. Are we restricted by a Data Protection maximum fee?
