HRT increases stroke and VTE risk, says report

HRT increases the risk of stroke and venous thromboembolism (VTE), but not CHD, a meta-analysis by UK researchers reports.

In 31 randomised control trials involving 44,113 women, HRT was associated with a 32% increased risk of stroke and doubled the risk of VTE. But the researchers found no association of HRT with CHD events and older age did not raise the risk of stroke.
