I'd never agree to be appraised by a nurse

Under no circumstances would I accept a nurse as an appraiser (News, February 10).

Nurses are trained in a completely different way from doctors, working to protocols, needing to be 'signed up' for everything they do.

As for school nurses appraising GPs, heaven forbid. I am sure they do an excellent job according to their job descriptions but they do not take final responsibility for anything.

Even the nit nurse's job has been delegated to them but not prescribing powers.
