Impossible to make health data comparison in Britain

Dr Fay Wilson says she has been battling with Hounslow PCT for six months to get servers upgraded in 18 practices running EMIS software.

Dr Wilson, secretary of Hounslow LMC, said practices had been given a choice of either changing to a system called VAMP, which is funded by Connecting for Health, or waiting

for their preferred EMIS system

to break down.

She said: 'This is an astonishingly cavalier approach. The position is you either upgrade or you choose but not both.

'It's completely unacceptable to have systems teetering on the edge. But they are not prepared to budge.'
