In-hour visits reform

The GPC wants primary care organisations to develop in-hours home visiting services under the new contract.

GPC joint-deputy chair Dr Hamish Meldrum said the contract negotiators could not rule out GPs having to do any home visits, but they wanted GPs to be able to choose whether or not to do them.

The GPC wants patients to be able to get transport to their GP's practice in order to cut home visit requests.

Dr Meldrum said: 'We

believe patients getting transport to other patient clinics but not to GP services is a nonsense.'
