It's money for old rope

Dr Mark Wood has got his practice-based commissioning money, but says his local plan is hardly worth the paper it's written on.

Dr Wood, a GP in Barnstaple, Devon, said: 'I suspect most practices' probably don't run to more than a couple of sides of A4.

'You write something fairly anodyne, has all the right words, but doesn't really say anything, hand it in and get your bag of gold.

'But if you're asking me is this good value for money, is it going to change anything? The answer is no. It's not going to change a jot.'
