It's the most depressing day ever.......again!

Today is the most depressing day..... ever. Unless of course you happen to be psychologist Cliff Arnall, an expert in depression, who has somehow achieved more newspaper coverage than most professors could hope for in a lifetime of study.

Today is the most depressing day..... ever. Unless of course you happen to be psychologist Cliff Arnall, an expert in depression, who has somehow achieved more newspaper coverage than most professors could hope for in a lifetime of study.

Mr Arnall's so called mathematical formula, which proves that we are all more depressed than ever-since the last time-has somehow managed to do the rounds for at least four years on the trot now, featuring in many national newspapers and websites at exactly this time of the year.

It's become as regular and in these quarters as welcome a feature of January as winter vomiting disease.

If you don't believe me do a quick run on Google- every January he's at it again, somehow having his day in the sun, while the rest of us, apparently, suffer as never before from the mid-winter blues.

So as GPs look forward to the annual January surge in depressed patients, here's an early prediction for 2010 –Monday 18 January will be declared-officially, the most miserable day ever. Thanks Cliff, if only for making us all want to jump off of one.

Depressed? you will be Depressed? you will be
