Judicial review of PCT's choice of provider

A judge has given the go-ahead for a judicial review of a PCT's decision to choose a UnitedHealth Europe to run a GP practice in Derby.

Richard Stein, solicitor acting for the patient who sought the review, said Eastern Derbyshire PCT should go through the selection process for the Creswell practice again. He said. 'It's very strange to have patients clear what they want and for the PCT to ignore them.'

Dr Elizabeth Barrett, a GP in Shirebrook, whose application was not shortlisted, said she would reapply if the selection began afresh.
