Justice fight stepped up

A grand total of 1,066 doctors signed Pulse's Justice for GPs petition against proposals to weaken the standard of proof in fitness-to-practise hearings. We submitted it to the Department of Health's consultation on Sir Liam Donaldson's Good Doctors, Safer Patients report last week.

We will now be writing to Andy Burnham, the minister in charge of the Government's response, to press home your view that moving to a civil standard of proof will lead to more miscarriages of justice and an increase in defensive medicine. With it we also included many of your hard-hitting comments.
