Keep your own appointments!

GPs should attempt to make appointments at their own practice to experience what it is like to be a patient and to improve safety.

Dr Tim Wilson, director of the RCGP quality unit, suggested the move during a presentation on primary care safety at an NHS Confederation conference last week.

Dr Wilson, a GP in south Oxfordshire, said: 'You need to know what it's like.'
