Lazy and overpaid? Some of us earn below average and want more work

I am a GP returner, possibly the last funded one in the country.

Having been in hospital medicine for 11 years, I have not been able to find a job in Southampton for 18 months. I am existing on whatever locum slots are available - and there are not many as so many other doctors are in the same position here.

It is disgraceful that the Government seems to be unaware of what it has indirectly done.

I am tired of the press continually talking about overpaid and lazy doctors. We need somebody to point out that there are highly qualified doctors with excellent CVs living on less than the national average pay.

I dread to think what the GP returners who completed the scheme after me without any pay at all must think, now that they realise they only did it to enter the ranks of the unemployed.
