Let's leave this sinking ship

GPs have had a poorer and poorer deal since 1990, which is when I resigned from the BMA.

The contract, when and if it finally appears, is unlikely to address the problems of general practice. Let us be brave, let us join our more valiant dentist colleagues. Let us have our resignation vote and let us have the sense to leave this sinking health service.

If we fail to do so the recruitment and retention crisis will worsen conditions for doctors, and the service to patients will continue to slide.
