Light at end of the tunnel for women GPs

I read with interest your article about women's careers in general practice.

I am a female GP in London and a member of Barnet LMC and the GPC, and all I can say is there is light at the end of the tunnel for women in this profession.

The LMC has welcomed me with open arms and I feel part of a team of professionals who are trying their best to support and defend GPs across the borough.

There is still a great deal more to be done to ensure women are fully represented in the medicopolitical arena.

But with organisations such as Londonwide LMCs running focused election campaigns to encourage gender and contractual diversity, it's clear that professional bodies are turning their efforts to ensuring women are given the confidence and opportunity to become involved.

I have, and it's been great for me personally and professionally.
