The 'shapers' of General Practice seem to have a disproportionate number of people south of the border. I understand a large proportion of patients in London, for instance, can only manage to see private GP services - is this because the 'top 50' are busy doing other things? Ivory Towers and all.... No grassroots GPs here who spend all there time seeing patients. Suspect there are many unsung heros out there who deserve credit for keeping the profession going the way it should. SUSAN LIPSCOMBE

It is delightful to see names like Chand Nagpaul, Martin Roland, David Haslam and David Morrell (should that not be Professor?). I was disappointed not to see the name of Prof Roger Jones but to see Clare Gerada honoured. I think the latter might have lost her way in associating with entrepreneurial excursions, which some argue would be out of keeping with a high office at the Royal College. abbas virji
