27 Sep 2010

Copperfield's spotted an outbreak of decidedly industrial language - from a GP no less - in an official report to the Department of Health

Yes, I saw this (I think on Doctors.net) and absolutely loved the quote. The Jobbing Doctor

Well said - this is for the quote about Lord Darzi; but... if they are succeeding it is because GP partners are not taking on more partners (?criteria too high) even though most of them do seem to be needing more and the salaried jobs that they do offer do not pay enough and expectations in term of work are too much. I'm glad he's not my GP. I couldn't show any respect or put my trust in such an unprofessional person. Is this the standard that is now current in the NHS?

It was well seen that Darzi packed it all in before he was asked to redesign secondary care. I was amazed not to be asked to redesign the whole of tertiary neurosurgical services for the UK. After all most GPs know more about that than he does about GP... And whilst I'm on, how well does David Colin-Thome now represent General Practice... he's been away from 5 day a week GP too long and has now gone totally native. The DOH should get shot, he says next to nothing a jobbing GP could relate to. Pete Budden

Why would anyone ask a part-time London based surgeon to advise on rural general practice? neil fraser
