Consultants have absolutely no idea how GP world works-NO IDEA-I tell you. All of us have had to work in hospitals but almost none of them have worked in Primary Care. They think we just see coughs, colds and piles, that we refer everyone for everything and that we were the really c*** ones at medical school who got through by the skin of our teeth after numerous retakes (but were always friendly). But I must say this-doctors do seem to love having their egos massaged. David Iles

the nurse is employed by the GP..her boss if you will...so its right we do ask them to do the more menial tasks that they are capable off. the consultant is our equal, he should be doing his own dogs work or getting people he employs/ is in charge of to do these. simple really anon

Love it! Just make sure the comment about 'special relationship' doesn't reach the GMC - you know what they'll make of that!!!! Lucy Reid

Is that 'special relationship' like that between Bush and Blair? And will it involve declaring war or pushing for regime change? Paul Conroy

Bejaysis....I quite fancy the moniker 'Community Houseman' which certainly describes my working life more accurately than 'Consultant in primary Care' ever could..
