Heartily agree. We been subject of derision by media (driven by spin doctors of Gvt) and vilified as all being lazy GP's who work less and earn significantly more!!I know no colleague who believes we working less since 2004( despite giving up OOH) and the day is very long and emotionally and physically draining now.The reason we got increase in 2004 was in part related to poor morale and poor recruitment into GP and poor pay compared to comparable professions. Guess what- come full circle again almost. Successive pay freezes (read pay cuts) and clawing back of money generated by QoF means GP morale back again at low level and suggestion recruitment crisis into GP on horizon. Also, we getting burnt out and stressed more and that has negative impact on work/life balance as recent surveys indicate. Not sure exactly why the Gvt wants to subject us to all this abuse, but it must stop NOW.We know Tories loathe public sector as we seen as not generating income for country unike private sector. We just work in service industry that costs Gvt money and they want to reduce what they pay out for these services by cut backs, pension changes and pay freezes and with Health and Social Care Bill then increase competition and involvement private sector and to hell with patient care/needs etc.
I ish I could retire now as had more than enough!
