Man banned from every surgery

A man has been barred from entering every GP surgery in England and Wales after NHS security services applied the first-ever antisocial behaviour order against a patient.

The order prevents 53-year-old Norman Hutchins from attending hospitals, dentists, walk-in centres, GPs or emergency doctors unless under strictly-controlled conditions and with prior permission.

Mr Hutchins has been involved in 47 incidents across the UK this year, including at GP premises, in which he has either assaulted or caused distress to NHS staff, in an effort to get hold of gowns and surgical masks.

The interim order from York magistrates also prevents Mr Hutchins from contacting NHS premises to obtain medical-related clothing.
