Meet the candidates for RCGP chair

Dr Maureen Baker

Dr Maureen Baker was honorary secretary of the college from 1999 to 2009 and – as its pandemic flu lead – had a central role during the swine flu outbreak. Her regular email bulletins to GPs cemented her status as a household name. She was also a special clinical adviser to the National Patient Safety Agency from 2002 to 2007 and is currently national clinical lead for safety at NHS Connecting for Health.

Dr Steve Mowle

Dr Stephen Mowle is a GP from Clapham and a current vice chair of the college. He was voted vice chair, working alongside Dr Nigel Mathers, in July 2011 following the surprise resignation of former co-vice chair, Dr Janet Hall, just four mouths into the role. He has held a variety of different educational leadership roles within the London Deanery and was a founding member of the RCGP Quality Management and Training Standards Committee. He is currently lead for the Centre for Commissioning.
