Meningitis cases on the decline

The Government has reported an overall reduction in the number of cases of meningococcal disease in the UK.

Official data from the Health Protection Agency showed the number of cases of meningitis C fell 46 per cent from 52 in the first quarter of last year to 28 in the same

period this year.

Cases of meningitis B fell by 29 per cent from 483 in 2002 to 343 in 2003.
