Mental health has a vital role

I was interested to read that the Government is now requiring GP commissioners to include nurses and hospital clinicians.

Government reveals fundamental changes to the health bill

It is a wise move – but it is important that mental health professionals also have a place at the table, given that around £11bn of the NHS's annual budget is spent on mental health. The inclusion of mental health experts on consortium boards would be a step in the right direction.
