Migrants concerned only with saving their lives, will destroy the NHS

Thousands of self-centred migrants who are only concerned with saving their own lives will destroy the NHS, claim experts.

The influx of desperately needy migrants fleeing war, famine, disease, IS, ISIS, Daesh, the group formerly known as Daesh, snipers, chemical weapons, barrel bombs, riptides, right-wingers, poisonous snakes and the perversions of an uncaring, oil-motivated geopolitical land-grab will destroy our perfect NHS.

We spoke to a man purple with rage: ’We’ve just managed to create the perfect health service here in the UK and then this lot go and ruin it. Perfection should be reserved for UK tax payers only. And when I say perfect health service I mean valium, gabas and mirtrazapine.’

And yes he did actually say mirtrazapine.

  • Erm right on Kev. Right up to the point you have to register 170 asylum seekers and pander to all their health needs with minimal if no resources. So tell me will you be putting in an extra 10 hours a week free to help out? Of course not it's much easier to write terribly Pc Russell Howardesque articles. The NHS is spent up any new pressure comes at a cost to existing users and staff the cost is quality of care and access.
Are you suggesting completely open access to all? What about people who sadly live in a country where democracy is intact but can't afford health care? Should the same invitation be extended. The world is full of inequalities we would like to save everybody but you are out of touch if you think we can help everyone all the time.

  • Spot on @6:55. Sorry Kev, Purple Man has a point.Do the maths or do the morals. As almost all contributors to these Columns agree, there are inadequate resources for existing patients. If you are going to increase the number of patients/migrants, tell me where the resources, human and financial are going to come from. If you are going to plan as opposed to accept chaos, you need to define the number of extra patients/migrants accepted, which means that you have to define your grounds for admission or exclusion. Most of the Middle East and the continent of Africa lives a life that would be deemed unacceptable by our standards, so, Kev, do we open our doors to each and every one? Your call.....

  • Why don't the moaners close their lists? I fully accept that they lack the resources, but no further resources will be forthcoming until they shut up shop.

  • We tried shutting our list; you take a huge financial hit and NHS England are all over you with threats to close the practice down as "failing". Perhaps try running a surgery in a deprived area used as a dumping ground for migrants, then your suggestions might have some value. (different anonymous, 6.55 is spot on).

If we close the list. We lose the right to provide enhanced services. So all the patients suffer. Ah! I hear you say someone else like a hospital could do all that.... Indeed they could but at double the cost. And the NHS is broke.

  • What a pity that the writer of this blog is deemed "politically correct" for wanting to show a bit of compassion.

  • If he wants to show compassion, he can go and work as an NGO in a country where these "migrants" come from.
Compassion surely entails an open door policy for an unspecified and unrestricted inflow.
How do your propose the Health planners provide the resources for this in an NHS that is clearly already on its knees???

  • I see there are some daily mail readers on here! Using quotations around the word "migrant" says it all! Shame on you!

  • Great article. Funny as always. In a continent of 750,000,000 taking 20,000 people over 5 years seems mighty generous. Clearly more resources needed though for practices with this extremely vulnerable cohort.
