Milburn acts on women's choice of GP

The Health Secretary has ordered primary care trusts to highlight practices where female GPs are available to see women patients.

Alan Milburn told a conference of chief executives that trusts should make the information available in their annual patient prospectus.

The proposal is part of the Government's aim to expand choice within the NHS to stop patients moving to the private sector.
