More contract delays

GP negotiators have failed to meet another deadline to release crucial contract documents.

The draft model contract, statement of financial entitlements and comprehensive guidance were due out by December 12 but have been delayed until this week.

GPC negotiators said the documents had been held up by Department of Health checks and 'should not be read as huge problems'. But GPs said the latest delay would stop PCOs negotiating with practices before Christmas.

Derbyshire LMC chair Dr John Grenville said: 'I'm not convinced the department is working as hard as the two negotiating teams.'
