More GP co-ops in talks over in-hours treatment

GP co-operative medical director Dr Alex Yeates is hoping to team up with other co-ops to deliver in-hours urgent care to support struggling GPs.

His co-op, Medway Doctors on Call, has pioneered a same-day in-hours service for all GPs in Medway PCT taking their urgent referrals from practices. He is in talks with other Kent co-ops about expanding the service county-wide. Dr Yeates, a GP in Rochester, said: 'The co-ops could deal with any NHS patient who needs to see an NHS GP within 24 hours.'
