My partner wants to go half-time, but doesn't want our partnership agreement changed. Can we ask her to leave?

We have a full-time female partner who has recently returned from maternity leave. She now wishes to go half –time in order to balance her work and family commitments. However she does not want the wording of the practice agreement changed to reflect this because she would like to leave her options open for the future. The remaining partners feel that they need a full-time equivalent female doctor to manage the workload and think that it would be difficult to find another part-time female especially since the future is so uncertain. Can they ask or even force their current partner to leave?
