At the heart of general practice since 1960

My PCT had not even heard of BNP testing

I was interested to read the story about BNP testing ('Poor BNP provision "a scandal"').

I put a practice-based commissioning proposal to North Somerset PCT for near patient testing both for BNP and D DIMERS last month.

BNP is not available at all in this locality - even to the hospital.

I had to present a Dragon's Den-style pitch as the first of five hurdles that need to be jumped.

The PCT had never even heard of BNP testing and needless to say my proposal was rejected despite the fact that the trust has a financial deficit and there are huge possible savings to be made.

From Dr David John, Winscombe, Somerset
