My PCT has hijacked PBC

Dr John Crompton says practice-based commissioning has been 'hijacked' by his PCT because of local financial deficits ­ despite being named a successful site by the Audit Commission.

Dr Crompton, a GP in Boroughbridge, north Yorkshire, said Craven, Harrogate and Rural District PCT had not offered GPs sufficient funding for them to take time out from clinical work to redesign services.

His LMC has told GPs not to accept imposed referral guidelines and warned trusts the scheme could be 'doomed to failure'.
