Not really a good year all in all. At least the Evil Patsy got the chop, will Mr Johnson fare any better I wonder. At least for me I managed to pass the MRCGP MCQ/AKT, oh and I got engaged so not too bad.
Now that the festive season is over there will be no more lame antibiotic prescriptions for "just in case it gets worse over Christmas / new year" my appointment slots are getting shorter and already I am starting to get a patient following. The horror of watching myself on video has begun, seeking patient cues and of course placing a sore throat in its psychosocial community orientated place.
Our CSA revision group is going strong. It's sad to see the others' glee when they act out a case of a simple broken arm, knowing that if you'd asked the right questions the patient would have revealed that they were using cannabis for pain control that they were getting form their mother whom they cared for as she had MS. The group is a great way to visit other peoples' homes over the festive season.
With the tree down, tinsel and baubles away for another 11 months, the patients are back into their usual aches and groans. Let's see what 2008 brings...GP apprentice
