New choose and book chief

By Steve Nowottny

Dr Stephen Miller, a GP in south-east London, has been appointed Connecting for Health's new medical director for the national Choose and Book programme.

Previously a choice and booking lead for South East London SHA, and last year chair of the Choose and Book national clinical reference panel, Dr Miller said he believed the controversial referral system had a 'great and exciting future'.

'I want to see Choose and Book become the everyday referral method across the NHS, and a widely used tool which helps deliver vital NHS reform, such as 18 weeks and practice-based commissioning,' he said.

Dr Miller succeeds Dr Mark Davies, a GP in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, who has been promoted to a broader role leading on clinical content within Connecting for Health.
