New commission wants your views

I would like to invite readers to take part in our consultation on the proposed vision and values for the Commission for Healthcare Audit and Inspection (CHAI).

Subject to the passage of legislation currently before Parliament, CHAI will come into existence from April 2004. We see review and assessment being used to improve the quality of health services and to create a better experience for patients. We do not want to add further burdens on health and social services. Our vision can only be achieved with the help of others, which is why we need GPs' feedback.

We have produced a vision and values document which is currently out for consultation. Feedback will help to shape our plans and achieve our goals. We are especially keen to hear thoughts on what we need to do in the first year of operation.

This is a critical time, not least because our first year will lay the foundation for our success. If you would like to take part in the consultation please e-mail so we can send you a copy of the vision and values pack which includes a feedback form.
