New deal may persuade GP to vote Yes

Dr Kathy Lavelle is reconsidering her plan to vote No following news that GPs could ditch the Carr-Hill formula and opt for a permanent income guarantee.

Dr Lavelle said her practice in Dereham, Norfolk, stood to lose £20,000 per partner under the formula. But she has not yet decided to vote Yes as she fears the deal will be amended again.

'I'm still very wary of it,' she said. 'The new safety-net deal simply protects our present income. If the formula is rejigged it will simply be another formula.'
