New safety fears over rosuvastatin

GPs in Essex look set to win their battle against PCT plans to categorise Saturday morning surgeries as an enhanced service.

Billericay, Brentwood and Wickford PCT shocked GPs by trying to include Saturday morning work as part of the spending floor. But following a complaint by Essex LMCs to the

GMS Contract Implementation Co-ordination Group, PCT managers have indicated they will back down.

LMC secretary Dr Brian Balmer, pictured, said the deciding factor was a letter from NHS Employers to the trust backing GPs.

He said: 'This shows the disputes system does work. While parts of the work may be enhanced services Saturday is out of hours.'
