New travel medicine tool for GPs

GPs gain a valuable new tool for use in travel medicine consultations this week with the launch of an innovative new web-based guide.

The Pulse Travel Clinic is designed so GPs can provide patients with personalised advice and calculate a schedule of recommended vaccinations.

With free access through the Pulse website, the clinic is designed for easy and instant use and has drawn enthusiastic endorsements from GPs who have tested it.

Dr Jim Sherifi, a GP in Sudbury, Suffolk, said: 'It is excellent. I particularly like the details given on vaccinations and malaria, including cost.

'The site is visually pleasing, clear, easily accessible, relevant and with new and refreshing information.'

The clinic is based on Pulse's trusted vaccine wall charts and calculates precisely the combination of vaccinations and malaria prophylaxis that individual travellers need.

It also provides specific advice for patients conducting different types of trip, with pre-existing clinical conditions or travelling to particular parts of the world. GPs can print out or e-mail an individualised patient report.
