The Pulse news team won a prestigious industry award last night, beating off stiff competition from pharmacy magazine Chemist and Druggist and international title New Scientist.
News editor Sofia Lind, deputy features editor Caroline Price, senior reporter Alex Matthews-King and news reporter Carolyn Wickware picked up the prize for Best Section Editor/Team at the BSME Talent awards.
Meanwhile, deputy editor Jaimie Kaffash was also shortlisted for the awards, with a nomination in the Best Deputy category.
The British Society of Magazine Editors judges praised the Pulse team’s ability to push stories from the heart of general practice on to the front pages and sofas of the national TV news programmes.
Following a year during which Pulse had at least 110 mentions in the national news, the BSME judges praised the magazine’s ‘sheer professionalism and impactful reporting’, adding: ‘This brand really knows what their audience wants and delivers it over and over again, and every time they manage to raise the bar just that little bit further.
’From revealing an Uber-style private doctor service taking on the NHS to discovering patients’ records that had been lost and then found in car park, this news team always has their eye on the ball and is a go-to source of water-tight stories for the national press and television news.’
Pulse was also named ‘Business Magazine of the Year’ at the Professional Publishers Association awards last year and Pulse editor Nigel Praities was named ‘Editor of the Year’ at the British Society of Magazine Editors awards.
