GP produces video attracting doctors to Wales

A Welsh GP has produced a video in an attempt to recruit GPs, as a result of the recruitment crisis affecting the region.

The three-minute video, titled ‘A General Practice Career and Wales… The Perfect Match’, was tweeted by Old Colwyn GP, Dr Dylan Parry, over the Easter holidays.

In the video, Dr Parry said: ‘I’m hoping that I can give you a taste of what it’s like to be a GP here in north Wales, highlighting the ‘beautiful surroundings’ and ‘excellent transport links’ to the ‘recreational activities and rich heritage’.

Dr Parry added: ‘You could be a part of this. Go on, why not give it a go.’

Dr Parry’s video is the winner of the ‘Why Wales?’ competition, announced by RCGP Wales in January this year as part of their campaign to address the recruitment crisis.

Last month, Welsh GPC chair Dr Charlotte Jones said that recruitment was one of the biggest issues facing GPs in Wales, after a number of practices were taken over by health boards due to struggles finding GPs.
