What we did
We trialled not having any regular meetings at all except those for Gold Standards Framework palliative care. We now only have brief ad-hoc meetings with relevant staff and it works.
Our appraisers and the CQC struggle with this policy, but it works for us.
The result
We have shortish surgeries in the mornings and not many telephone consultations. As a consequence all doctors, nurses and admin staff have time during each working day to meet casually and discuss anything from practice issues to gardening. Everything still gets done this way – and usually with fewer delays.
