Get template letters for refusing inappropriate requests

What we did

The BMA’s Quality First guidance and associated templates have had a big impact on workload in our practice – these are standard letters GPs can use to respond to inappropriate requests, such as the unfunded transfer of secondary care work.

At my practice, the template letters have been imported into EMIS Web, so when I receive an inappropriate request, I can respond to it with a couple of clicks.

The result

This frees up time I can spend delivering core contracted services. The BMA has adapted the letters for use with all of the major clinical IT systems, so this should be easy to implement in other practices.
