Pulse named 'magazine of the year'

Pulse magazine has been awarded a major industry prize at a ceremony in London.

The publication was named ‘business magazine of the year’ at the PPA Independent Publisher Awards on Friday.

Pulse beat off competition from other specialist magazines, such as Guidelines, Engineering & Technology and CA magazine.

The panel of judges said they ‘felt that Pulse has a clear understanding of, and strong connection with, its audience, exemplified in its strong editorial campaigns and impressive commercial figures.’

They added: ‘A clear winner in a highly competitive and hard fought category’.

Pulse columnist Dr Phil Peverley was also given an honorable mention at the awards for his writing in Pulse.

The award caps off a golden year for Pulse, with other prizes won this year including ‘scoop of the year’ at the British Society of Magazine Editors in November and ‘editor of the year’ and ‘story of the year’ at the Medical Journalists Association awards in July,

The awards celebrate the best journalism from smaller publishers. Pulse’s publisher, Cogora, also picked up another prize for ‘digital innovation of the year’.
