New test for chlamydia

A new 30-minute, point-of-care chlamydia test could massively improve coverage of the national screening programme, say UK researchers.

The study of 1,300 women found the vaginal swab test to be cheap and effective. Researchers writing in the BMJ said the test allowed for immediate treatment, cutting the risks of persistent infection and transmission.
